Event Round‑Up: Work‑Related Stress – Resources to Access and Assist

Thank you to everyone who joined our recent VRA webinar, Work‑Related Stress – Resources to Access and Assist, led by Chartered Occupational Psychologist Sharon Patmore. It was an incredibly insightful and timely session, especially as work‑related stress continues to rise across the UK workforce.

With 964,000 workers experiencing work‑related stress, depression, or anxiety in 2024/25—and 22.1 million workdays lost as a result—the need for practical, evidence‑based support has never been clearer. Younger employees are particularly affected, with 93% of 18–24‑year‑olds reporting high stress levels and 39% taking time off due to poor mental health.

Sharon guided attendees through the HSE’s key workplace stressors, explored current UK trends, and shared a wealth of tools organisations can use to strengthen wellbeing, resilience, and culture. Participants left with renewed clarity and confidence, plus actionable strategies to support both employees and managers.

Highlights from the session included:

  • A breakdown of the HSE’s core drivers of workplace stress
  • Insight into the real organisational impact of rising stress levels
  • Practical, ready‑to‑use resources to support teams and leaders
  • Approaches to building healthier, more resilient workplaces

Sharon also shared additional resources during the session, drawing on nearly 30 years of experience across public, private, and charitable sectors—including her work with the RAF, Police Force, manufacturing, healthcare, and more. Her bespoke, psychologically informed approach resonated strongly with attendees.

Missed the live event? You can still access the full recording.

Recordings are available to all registrants, and CPD certificates can be purchased on request (free for full VRA members).

If you’d like to purchase access to the recording—or if you have colleagues who would benefit—simply contact the VRA and we’ll get you set up.

If you’d like, I can also craft a shorter social‑media‑friendly version or a more formal version for email campaigns.
