All those working within vocational rehabilitation on the island of Ireland or with links to Irish VR are welcome to join us for our network meeting as are visitors from further afield.

Our February presentation will provide an overview of key findings from the EU project “Negotiating return to work in the age of demographic change through industrial relations (REWIR)”.  This project explores the topic of return to work after chronic illness across 6 EU countries and brings together research on industrial relations and social dialogue with expertise in occupational health, return to work policies and the fundamental goals of EU Disability Rights Strategy for 2021-2030 and the EU Strategic Framework on Health & Safety at Work for 2021-2027.

Margaret Heffernan is an Associate Professor in HRM at Dublin City University Business School. Prior to this she lectured in the J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics at National University of Ireland, Galway and worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Limerick. Margaret is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and a FAS accredited trainer. She is also certified by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Her main research interests focus on human resource management, organisational justice, compassion at work and psychological contracts. She is currently Vice Chair of the Irish Academy of Management.
