Irish Network: Recognising and responding to the impact of domestic abuse on women

DATE / TIME 14/07/2022
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

EVENT DESCRIPTION

All those working within vocational rehabilitation on the island of Ireland or with links to Irish VR are welcome to join us for our network meeting as are visitors from further afield.

This online information session will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about women’s experience of intimate partner violence and abuse.

The presenter will provide information about domestic abuse as a process of coercive control employed by abusers to entrap women within the private sphere of intimate relationships and the home. Participants will hear about the forms of abuse women experience and the impacts on them. A focus on the goal and intention of domestic violence perpetrators will be included.

The presentation will end with a short guide for participants should they ever receive a disclosure of domestic abuse and with information that will enable them to signpost women to specialist domestic violence agencies.

The presentation of information will be interspersed with opportunities for questions and dialogue.
